soughtO private beta

Find what you know. Quietly help someone in your cohort.

Soughto helps you search the information you choose to import, on your own devices. When you need another perspective, ask your cohort.

Read a request when you choose. Review a reply, edit it, or move on. You approve the exact text before it is sent.

Private beta for Mac and iPhone. Access is arranged with the beta team. Physical iPhone acceptance remains in progress.

Why this exists

Useful on your own. Better when someone chooses to help.

Useful details get buried in the information you already have. Start by asking your own library, with answers linked to imported sources.

When your library cannot answer, send a question to your cohort. People decide whether to respond. Soughto does not tell you which member has private information that could help.

How it works

Your library first. Your cohort when you choose.

STEP 1

Choose what to import.

On the device selected for imports, connect a supported Google source and confirm the selection and date range. Google sign-in alone imports nothing.

STEP 2

Ask your own library.

Use Just me for a private question. Search and answers run on your device. Approved devices can sync an encrypted copy of the library.

STEP 3

Ask your cohort.

Choose My cohort and approve the question before sending. Recipients choose whether to reply and approve their exact reply text.

Cohort requests

An invitation to help. No named expert list.

Requests go to the authorized cohort. Local suggestions can help with ordering or a reply. They do not decide who is allowed to receive a request.

Fictional example, not an app screenshot
Someone in your cohort

How do you keep meeting notes useful after a project ends?

A recipient can read the request and choose whether to answer.

Example reply text for review

I keep a short decision log with links back to the original notes. It makes the reasoning easier to find later.

Review and edit the text before sending. This illustration sends nothing.

The app does not reveal private matching evidence or identify a member as someone who can answer. Replies are anonymous toward other users.

Getting and giving help

You choose the question. You choose the reply.

When you need something

  • Start privately. Search your own imported information with Just me.
  • Choose your cohort. My cohort sends to its authorized members, without a list of people inferred to know the answer.
  • Review before sending. Check the exact question and approve it.

When someone might need you

  • Read when you choose. An incoming request does not commit you to answering.
  • Keep your library separate. A cohort does not gain access to your imported sources.
  • Decide what to share. Review and edit your reply. Only the text you approve becomes the message.

Privacy

Private content on devices. Honest limits in the service.

Intelligence stays on your devices.

Library search, matching and drafting run locally. The sync service does not compute answers against your private library.

You approve outgoing messages.

Every question and reply needs approval of its exact text. Encrypted library sync is a separate transfer between approved devices.

Content the relay cannot decrypt
  • Your encrypted library transfers
  • The plaintext of encrypted cohort questions and replies
  • Private source content inside your device library
Metadata the service retains
  • Account and device identifiers, sessions and public keys
  • Cohort membership and routing records
  • Encrypted transfer sizes, timing and delivery status
  • Operational records and backups with separate retention
  1. 01
Choose your sources. Import only the information you select. Connecting a Google account does not automatically import its contents.
  2. 02
Approve another device. Pair it with an approved device and compare the displayed digests. Pairing grants access to decrypt that account's library.
  3. 03
Sync encrypted changes. Devices encrypt transfers before upload. The service cannot decrypt the library with its service credentials.
  4. 04
Search received data locally. After sync, the receiving device can search its copy while the importing Mac app is closed.

The limits that matter

  • The service sees identity, cohort and delivery metadata. Anonymous replies do not make accounts anonymous to the service.
  • Recipients can keep or disclose messages they receive. Removing your local copy does not remove theirs.
  • Google handles sign-in and source authorization. Its bundled sign-in SDK declares linked data and some analytics uses.
  • Google sign-in cannot recover your library if you lose every approved device.
  • Sign-out keeps the local library. Full account deletion is not yet available in the beta.

Read the beta privacy notice draft. The notice remains a draft while retention and account-closure policies are finalized.

For cohorts

Start with people who already have a reason to help.

A founder group, alumni network or professional community can provide a useful starting audience. The beta uses an admitted cohort, with membership managed by the service.

Each person keeps a separate private library. Joining the same cohort does not pair devices or share those libraries.

Questions and replies are encrypted for their recipients. Membership and routing metadata remain visible to the service.

Ask about a cohort beta. Access and setup are arranged with the beta team.

Questions

Before you start.

Do I need the Mac app running all the time?

No. Once an approved device receives an encrypted library sync, it searches its local copy. The importing device must run to import new source data and upload its changes.

Does signing in import my Google data?

No. You choose a source, confirm a selection and range, and run the import separately. An existing library also requires approval from a device that already has access.

Can Soughto tell me who can answer?

The beta does not expose that information. Your question goes to the authorized cohort. Members decide whether to reply without exposing their private library or matching evidence.

Does a cohort get access to my library?

No. Device pairing shares a library between approved installations of the same account. Cohort messages share only the text you approve for their recipients.

What if I lose all my approved devices?

Google sign-in does not recover the keys to your library. Keep an approved device available before replacing an installation. Do not assume an account password can restore library contents.

Can I delete my account?

The beta has source removal and sign-out controls. Sign-out does not delete the library or server account. A complete account-closure process remains unfinished. Contact csl@soughto.io with privacy questions.

Can I install the beta now?

Access is arranged with the beta team. Mac packaging and paired library checks passed. iOS distribution compliance and physical iPhone acceptance remain in progress. France is excluded from this beta.
